About Winter:
“Winter” is an introspective piece that intends to put the performer and listener in to the beauty of a snowy mountain landscape. The scene is breathtaking, with a calmness and quite that pervades everything. However, as with life, even in these moments of calm and serenity, there is always a potential for dramatic change. This piece acknowledges that life, much like the weather, is unpredictable and ever-changing. There is beauty, peace, victory, anguish, uncertainty, pain, and inevitably there is always change.
The journey through “Winter” is not one of triumph, resolution, and overcoming obstacles. It’s about coming to peace with the changes that life brings. The cycles continue and the best we can do is witness and accept.
Performed by pianist Michael Lenahan, Circles – Reflection was recorded on March 5, 2026, at the UT Butler School of Music Recording Studio and was made possible by a grant from the Rainwater Foundation.
